From Garrett Robinson, author of the best-selling drama novella series, Touch Trilogy

Cliff is just an ordinary nerd in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Overnight, he's gone from societal reject to apex predator. He knows the drill. He keeps his family safe. He's on top of the world. Until he gets bit.

The next morning, Cliff wakes up a zombie. Only, not. He can't feel, he can't bleed or die, but he can still think.

Will Cliff and his family figure out what's happened to him? Can he still defend his family in his new, slow, shambling state? Will he ever get back to normal?

This first novella in the Non Zombie trilogy delivers explosive laughs and a gory, raucous look at a post-apocalyptic future where the meek truly have inherited the earth.

Non Zombie (Audible Audio Edition) Garrett Robinson Living Art Books Books

I enjoyed the book a lot, and would have rated it higher, except that there was an unnecessary amount of vulgarity that distracted from the storyline too much. Swearing has it's place, and when used in speech or thought-patterns then it doesn't really matter how much you use as it informs you of the character, but there is rarely if ever a need for it in the narrative and when it is used it should be used with effect and not as a crutch as it seemed to be here. The story itself was quite enjoyable, though, once you get past the distractions, if a bit predictable. The protagonist isn't particularly likeable but becomes more so as the story progresses (and his condition becomes worse) and while a bit one-dimensional the antagonist does a good job filling his role and is thoroughly despicable. You can definitely see where he's coming from right up to the end, though.

Non Zombie (Audible Audio Edition) Garrett Robinson Living Art Books Books Reviews

As a zombie enthusiast I was intrigued by the idea of this short story. I downloaded it and read it straight away. Fun story line and likable characters. Kind of a big price tag for 75 pages but a great read either way.
The zombie apocalypse hits, and who is left? A chubby gamer, and his family, because who else is going to be prepared for a zombie apocalypse besides a gamer couple? And Cliff goes out of his way to save his wife and son, even coming back from the dead.

I loved the concept, a zombie in control of himself with the physical limitations but the mind of a human. Garrett took the basic idea and made it something all his own.

And I have to say, as a gamer obsessed with zombie movies, etc, and a girl who has a Z day plan, I love the fact that this gamer gets to be the hero of the book, even when he's a zombie.

Well written, funny, and all around great book. Can't wait to finish Non-Zombie 2 now.
I really enjoyed this book, with only one star deducted for the Twinkies references at the start. I guess it's meant to be homage to Zombieland, but it felt a bit plagiarism-y to me (real word alert!). I look forward to reading more by this author )
I loved the serial videos about the Guild, and this was kind of reminiscent of that except on a post apocalypse scenario. I gave it four stars cause because there are better ways to conclude this part of a series than " to be continued."
Okay, so I bought Non Zombie on a lark after hearing the author on the Self Publishing Podcast. Garrett's a genuinely funny guy and I liked his perspective on writing, how he came up with the NZ story-line as well as his filthy mouth; so I threw down actual cash for the book and I'm so glad I did. NZ is f'n hilarious, seriously. I fell in love with Cliff, an adorably obese Twinkies loving, post-online gamer/geek who adores his wife and is a great father. Together, Cliff and his wife have been preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse for the past six years. They were ready for anything, but not what happened next.

This is a great story and so worth a read. I'm already onto NZ 2 and will devour every book that comes out in the series. Mr. Robinson knows how to write humor and I had a lot of fun laughing my ass off.
Bravo Garrett! Bravo!

I have been a zombie fan since I first saw Night of the Living Dead (many, many moons ago.....yea, I'm that old) The past was difficult times for us poor zombie fans. Embarrassed to admit publically our addiction and eagerly watching low budget movies in darkened theaters seemed to be the only way to get our fix.

`Twas dark days indeed.

Then came the internet and soon after . Surely zombie fiction would abound! Alas, that was not the case and there were few quality books to be found.
Then, as if maggots on a rotting corpse, there was a plethora of books! Here a zombie, there a zombie.....zombies EVERYWHERE.

I mean really, there were WAY too many zombie books. Christ what the hell? I read books that were so poorly edited a 6 year could have done better. It would take me days to filter out the crap from the gold.

Yes, the days of self-publication had arrived.

Now I longer can just settle for a plain old zombie story. No, no, no, not old zombie veteran me. It has to be unique or have some kind of new twist.
You sir have satisfied my sick desire for twisted unique zombie stories!

Great book! Look forward to the next two reads!

BTW - Go Bakersfield!
This was great fun, and quite funny (yes, those are two different things). I was only about a chapter in when I quickly hopped online and bought the next book in the series, and that's shaping up to be just as good as this one was.
